This video, entitled "It's All About the Roosevelts" publicizes Taco Bell's new PR campaign advertising 79 89 and 99 cent options. Interestingly enough, the focus of the video strays enormously from the food and it's prices.
If you get a chance, watch it once paying attention to the visual content and another time listening to the song.
I hope you all find this as interesting as I did!

So am interested in how you went about critically examining this, coz what jumped at me was the hip pop genre, and then almost no African Americans in it and seems like a deviation from the stereotype. interesting
ReplyDeleteAfter class I chose to watch this commercial and was struck by many things. The most interesting thing I noticed was how, for me, words are much more powerful than image. This may seem a little bit off to some but having heard the description I imagined something much different than what I saw.
ReplyDeleteI was struck by many of the same things as Claire mentioned and that Chishala points out. The commercial does something very interesting by choosing to use white youth to represent so many pop culture themes that are most commonly associated with minority cultures. I would be interested in knowing what the logic behind this advertisement was.
