Down to Earth
This video is a collection of clips from the movie Down to Earth with Chris Rock. The particular scene that I looked at for my paper was from 1:30 until 2:45. Here's the link
i think this is like the reparations 2003 skit, whereby you have the case of the one race talking and making fun of themselves and there being no problem until the other race says the same thing and there is a big problem. Interesting
In comparing this to the taco bell commercial, I find it interesting how one's relationship to a racial group is critical in comedy but not in less explicit messages about stereotypes-- but is this because comedy is much more critical of culture and the blatant stereotypes are seen as more offensive because the person isn't even trying to cover them up?
